Change of ownership at Cheadle Town FC

Cheadle Town Football Club will be acquired by Stott Capital Sports Investments. SCSI continues to invest in sport with the same long-term mindset: creating sporting opportunities, developing talent, strengthening foundations, and helping organisations reach their full potential.

As part of the acquisition, the Ground Up Solutions Stadium, the home of Cheadle Town FC will also become the new home of Stockport County Women as they begin a new chapter following their launch in February this year. As a result, Cheadle Town Stingers 1st team will be disbanded.

Women’s football continues to experience unprecedented growth in participation across all age groups, yet the lack of fit-for-purpose facilities remains the single greatest barrier to further development of the women’s game. Investment in the facilities at Cheadle Town F.C. will help address this challenge by creating a high-quality, accessible environment for players, coaches and the wider community and become a central hub for women’s and girls’ football in Stockport for generations to come.

The facilities at Park Road will also continue to be home for Cheadle Town FC Men’s Team competing at Step 5 of the non-league pyramid building on a rich legacy of domestic success and community impact. Plans are in place to kick-off our maiden season in the Midland Football League Premier Division.

The Cheadle Town Full-Time Education Programme and junior grassroots teams will also continue as part of the plans, providing boys and girls pathway opportunities to play high level football.

Tracey Neville, Managing Director SCWFC said:

“This is such an exciting time for SCWFC and all girls within the borough with a passion for football. When I joined the club in February my vision was clear; to create a clear, credible pathway for girls and women to progress, whilst building the standards, culture and infrastructure needed to compete at the highest level. The facilities here at Cheadle Town FC provide us with a brilliant platform to achieve that and grow our pathways to give young girls of Stockport opportunities to compete at the highest level.”

Craig Brennan, Owner of Cheadle Town FC said:

“Since acquiring Cheadle Town FC in 2018, the vision has always been clear, to build a football club that could grow sustainably both on and off the pitch, with genuine ambition to progress through the football pyramid while becoming a true community asset.

That vision came with a clear roadmap, promotions, investment in facilities, the creation of a thriving junior section, a full-time education programme, and the development of successful women’s and girls’ teams.

Looking back, I’m incredibly proud of what has been achieved over the past eight years. The men’s team earned promotion to the NWCFL Premier Division, the women’s team achieved three consecutive promotions, our junior section will welcome over 500 players next season, and our education programme continues to go from strength to strength.

Perhaps most importantly, the club has become something far bigger than just a football team. Our facilities are now a genuine community hub, used every day of the week, made possible by an exceptional group of board members, staff, volunteers, players, coaches, and supporters who care deeply about this club.

But the journey is far from finished. There is still much to achieve, further progression on the pitch, continued development of the club’s structure, and the next phase of investment in the ground and facilities.

That is exactly why choosing the right custodians for the club mattered so much. We received significant interest, but from the outset it was important to find buyers who shared our long-term vision and understood what makes Cheadle Town special. In Stott Capital Sports Investments, I believe we have found that.

I’m genuinely excited to see what comes next for the club under their ownership, and I’m incredibly proud to have played a part in this chapter of Cheadle Town’s story.
